Watching as summer sneaks away, I collect scenes and sounds inside words -
Notes
like Zelda at the gate
a cocky strut of blue
crowns the fence top
dares the neighbor's zipsaw
drying leaves sift down
orange tomatoes hang for red
hard green pears dangle
droughty plums drop and roll
gray gleaners Pac-Man seeds
where weeds fall to earth
chatter like bratty kids
gimme, I saw it first
Sun Salutation considers
clouds building in the west
the sun feels warm
but shadow cools the mat

This is a great evocation of the end of summer. The chatter of bratty kids sounds right!
A beautiful poem of the seasons, it sings with an autumnal brilliance :)
Great end of summer poem. I loved your images!
beautiful notes shared. it's a reminder of what summer is/ was to you. lovely poem. hope all is well. have a great weekend.
Wonderful feel to this poem, soft goodbye to summer, but an awareness of all the details.

Always the tension between hello and good-bye. Amazing. Beautiful poem.
Timely and interesting. I like the mood change of the last line.
Great images.

Last para has an amazing punch...Lovely poem
Rich imagery! Just yesterday I noticed that sound, of "Pac-Man seeds" skittering and being blown down the pavement ... you so imaginatively have captured the winsomeness of the end of summer. Happiness and regret harmoniously together. BTW, I am hooked on fib poems now.
the song of nature,
beautiful and musical...
I got a lovely summer feeling reading your poem.
I love the way the colors and sounds work together in this poem.
Ah, lovely....
wish I was there doing yoga with you!
I do like your notion of summer "sneaking away"... glad you captured this moment before it escapes until next year!
yes, I can see the fading summer days in your words.... I see it here in my days too~
Love that last line!
This is one of my very favorites for this week's prompt. I especially love the last stanza. Really nice.
Excellent post! =)

Excellent.
I really admire your work.
Beautiful colours and sights, so different from the summers we experience here in Chennai.
Oh! Those beautiful jays do make a ruckus this time of year. I've been hearing them morning & night. This poem hit me just right. :-)
Creativity's still running rampant here, I see! I especially dig the way the last three lines of the third stanza sound : )
Curtains close for summer this year... and a neat ode to that effect!
Really enjoyed the wordplay here...
Felt FRESH reading it!!!
