along the river
of broken things
the vagrant wind
unearths a sea floor
its shore abandoned
old form ignored
while shadows rhyme
and danger falls
a rising hum of shells
breathes out my mouth
and scales the endless dark
do not cross my path again

I wonder if this was what you said - or what you wished you said? Interesting...
Endless dark....Lovely poem and image
"river of broken things." Yes.
Intriguing. I wish I understood your lovely words.
Wonderful post! =)
A dark and layered poem, there are so many things we should have said, and too many thing we regret saying...
It certainly sounds beautiful and I love the gentle rhyming and the line "and scales the endless dark".
Beautiful poem, wonderful colors and image!! Love it!

Love the line "rising hum of shells breathes out my mouth", it creates a miriad of images. And that last line is lethal.

Susan beautiful words and the last bit certainly does hit home!

This is a wonderfully beautiful and powerful piece!
very moody, is it what you wish had said?
Do not cross my path again!
OK, I'll stay away, LOL. I thought this poem was very stimulating!
What a stunner that last sentence —powerful and evocative.
Interesting and strong images.

I felt the desolation and resolve. Very strong poem - rich with images setting the mood and setting the reader up for the last line!
It did things in my mind!

I hope you had the last word.
Love the mix of images, words to water and back again.
Your language is beautiful, dense, and personal. I am left with my own imagination:
The Salt Spray
I saw you on edge,
at the shoreline breathing out
your words to the sky,
the distant night sky,
while the surf's cold spray brushed me
with my failures, my
unwilling changes,
my compulsion to gather
your words, to know you.
Nicely written post!
The end of this piece gave me chills.
Wow! Love that simply amazing and italicized last line! There are some, I wish I had said the same to. :-) Stunning work as always.

Intriguing. The vehemence of the final stanza suggests some regret for what wasn't, in the first instance, said.

I love the mystery of the piece...the thoughts so foreign, and yet every description is magical.
I love the image of the river of broken things
What a beautiful poem -- the imagery is very interesting and vivid. I like the way the speaker of the poem is mingled with the subject.
