Summer Reflection for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry prompts with a Wordle this week. Click the link to see the image and read other poems.

Summer Reflection

pineapple scents
and corn silks
drift on jet streams
Christo drapes
color the globe
to circle deep summer

days of zero shade
moistened by early dew
haunt hungry tongues
ahead of August's
Green Moon rising
once upon a reflection

Wonder why deep summer suggests heat, not cool? Interesting...

The imagery is vivid, and perfectly complimented by the poem's alluring rhythm.

your poem is very much a summer poem, evoking heat and dryness, but the digital photo makes me think of crystaline winter nights.

Great poem full of rich images of summer. I liked how you used "silk." Corn silks say summer to me!

How very, very lovely.....seems to lilt and drift, beautifully. Being held almost breathlessly.

Very nice... the "Christo drapes" really stand out to me for some reason. Thank you for sharing!

I love the sounds in your poems, and this is no exception. It's a delight to read out loud -- nice pacing, too.

I like the way so much of the flow and meaning here seems to reside in the last word of each line.

Beautiful movement from corn silks drifting to Christo drapes, which are equally as ephemeral. And silky.

Ending with a reflection and, in the same stanza, including shade, puts us, via Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" into a realm of uncertain perceptions.

Very nice exploration of an overpowering season!

hmm... thought I responded to this - looks like I didn't though. I do like it a lot, especially days of zero shade - the way you worded that and cleverly got your words in. oh, and the last line, cool, very cool.

Quite dreamy...I love your unique thoughts on this, also. (I had forgotten about Cristo until now!)

"Christo drapes
color the globe"
Tried to buy one of his art pieces once.
Seriously, is there something special about your August moon? It appears over and over in song and poetry... two poems I read tonight!

This is a poem to hold onto through the cold months ahead. Love the way you worked zero in (or am I the only one who found that especially challenging?)
