Pandora
she whistles home
old secrets left untold
skeletons of the ancient,
mum as an empty urn
the absent key of luck
artifact, cold and hard
a rusty lock is all that's left
of the open clay pithos
plagues and curses reign
she calls home a wick of hope

I love your poetry!
Nice Magpie
I never would have thought of Pandora for this prompt, and you use the lock in a way I didn't expect but that works very well.
I'm curious: did you consciously choose to use couplets for this, or it did it just come out that way?
Nice one! :-)
I loved the image of "a wick of hope" -- well done!

You are a mistress of metaphor. You just kick it every time. Every word is so well considered, so beautifully placed. I bow to you!
Love it TW - you know I had a hard time moving past the first stanza. Because I kept thinking about what it said.
Well done!

So much mystery in the words. My mind is free-falling.
Good thing Pandora opened that box, the world would have boring so boring otherwise...
