Smoke and Ruins for Magpie Tales

Magpie Tales #23  Each week Willow posts an image to be used as a springboard for a vignette or poem. This week the image shows a fire extinguisher. As always, my offerings are in draft form.

Smoke and Ruins

not so long
beyond the time
when rising heat
ate filmy smoke

coolness colored
darkling ashes
and exposed
those buried mirrors

A bouquet of fire created in Escape Motion.

I liked your Magpie ... I have buried many mirrors in my lifetime ~ all of them with less than flattering images.

I especially love the deepening (and dark-toned) music of the second stanza!

Oh yes. Buried mirrors. I've held a few of those myself. Glad that they are buried. Wonderful writing!

Dear TW: This excellent poem! Illustrative and illuminating fractal with wonderful fire bouquet! I love your use of the Elements here! Coolness making the fire exist; like a mirror image in reverse. These two Elements need each other to survive...how well thought out this amazing poem. I love it!

Don't often describe a poem as "pretty," but this one calls for it!

One of the better magpie poems.
Poetry is like breathing to me, not every breath is as fragrant as this one.

Fire is powerful, but doesn't last. Great description of the remains!

Very vivid imagery! Kinda made me think of the big bang, and the formation of the Universe.. I wonder why...
A beautiful poem, complemented by a fantastic image of slender, dancing flames!

well written loved the images and the thoughts this one provokes!

Hmmm, you've got me thinking. Do the fires of life and the reactions they produce distort our reflections of our experience or is the smoke merely the story we tell ourselves to help us make sense of it all....?
