The Tube for Magpie Tales

Magpie Tales offers a new image for this week's prompt. Click the link to see the image.

The Tube
enticement in a stick
soft, sweet glow of youth
shaped by sex-free kisses

hydrating chocolate hue
luscious look of lust
with its tiny tint of frost

until the precious dye
begins its later slide
toward faults and wrinkles

that smudge her mouth
shaped by lust-free kisses
lips that cupid missed

That kind of says so much between the lines. Good work.

Beautiful poem -- very Powerful imagery it invokes
love the lines ---
until the precious dye
begins its later slide
toward faults and wrinkles. . .
lips that cupid missed

The poem really does pack a whole lot of meaning between the lines like Aayushi Mehta commented.

Wonderful Magpie

And love that "Watercolor image digitally created on Bamboo Fun Tablet." I would like it even in a much bigger size -- lovely to look at.

As I said last week, your blog is so aptly named. The words just tumble over each other. Wonderful poem . . . again!

The stages and ages of a woman....via lipstick. It kind of amazing how powerful lipstick is and how we view it at different stages in our lives.

'Enticement in a stick' is such an amazing line. It says everything that needs to be said!

The Tube for this woman, will all that buying of costly lipstick was "down the tubes". She'd be forever "a missed miss" or spintser or old maid. Goes to prove; money can't buy everything, not even love (I mean the real kind of enduring congegal love; of the marrying kind. No beau, no suitor to ever kiss those lips; can you imagine! Love the flow-tumble over waterful wonder of words. The artwork is unique and intriguing...shall check it out! Thanks. Love fractals...oh so interesting!

Ah, a life of lipstick, from sex-free kisses to lust-free ones. Wonderful piece!

This is such a wonderfully poetic description of the life cycle of a woman's desirability.

"Enticement in a stick." You summed it all up in four words. Congratulations.

Oh, the progression of age through the lips - brilliant! Love 'luscious look of lust', you present great visuals with your words.

Lots of lovely alliteration and assonance wrapped into those four small stanzas. What a sad ending!

I loved the image of her painted face slowly sliding down. gavity works on us all.

I love wearing lipstick...not looking forward to the day it begins the "slide toward faults and wrinkles." Nice way to cover a lifetime of wearing lipstick.

many interesting thoughts from that...I liked "enticement in a stick" but frowned about the sliding toward wrinkles.... Well done

Ah yes! I like the "later slide" line, but I'm a realist.
