O for ABC Wednesday

ABC WEDNESDAY ROUND 6: O

Online or Offline

About three weeks ago, the local ISP I used disappeared into the night like leftover fog. It took time to disentangle and find a replacement. And it will be another few days before I get caught up.

In the meantime, I was forced to flip through the flimsy phone book pages printed in size 3 font and search the dictionary with print too small for sight and too flat for Braille.

It's amazing how much I store in the clouds and how much time I spend reading and writing blogs, reading and sharing news and admiring photos from far away places.

Like a spider, I feel better when hanging with the web!  :) Do you?

Oh I am so with you! Not being online out of choice is completely different to not being online because something is jammed. How the world has changed!

Can't imagine myself to be offline for a single day ^_^ Great shot you've got here. Happy Wednesday!

Well, yeahhhhhh!! Nothin' quite as chill as hangin' wit my spidey peeps in the webness.

*ahem*

Glad your ISP is getting straightened out. And stuff.

Brilliant! Yes, hanging in the web is good although I wish I had a higher res monitor as it does wear my eyes out. Someday...sorry to hear about the ISP going AWOL on you!

I was very late to the web. Just 4 years ago. But I couldn't do without it now. Just a pity I'm still relatively tech illiterate :-)

Oh, I do, - I can't believe how my world has grown or how much I rely on the information stored on the world wide net. It is marvelous, and at times I am quite in awe, having grown up with the beginnings of radio as a ham operation in my father's basement.

Glad you are back up and running. My connection went down for a few days and I felt cut off, so yes I like hanging with the web.

Hope your connection will soon be fully restored! I'm thankful that my ISP never gone awol on my yet, never even get a down time for a short period,as compared to some other ISPs here.Very soon all our households will be equipped with fibre-optic connection, which means faster and uninterrupted connection.

I so agree with you! I know I am addicted!
Hope all sorts itself out for you.

What a great pun for the day! In all seriousness, it's a bit disconcerting how much we rely on electronics every day. But, I'd never trade the new things I've discovered online.

I sometimes think my ISP works by winding an elastic band...

I think it would be hard to find a disssenting voice - we're all addicted, for many reasons. I'd hate to be forced off-line. I hope your technology is soon up and bouncing again:-)

When we had a volcanic dust cloud hanging over us I was saying that if you were home and had nowhere to travel to it was actually quite a nice change ... but that if the dust affected telecommunications in some way then I'd suddenly feel so cut off! I'm quite addicted to my daily dose of internet. :)

My friends who aren't online just don't understand what we bloggers do all day although I am looking forward to a few days away from the computer - but since it is by choice and only a few days - I shall easily cope with its absence.

And like Incy Wincy, never stop climbing up, even if the rain washes you out sometimes...

There Ought to be a law against ISP abandonment! I, too, do not know what I would do without the fun, tangled web I've woven! (<-- "Click")

I am with you. I like to decide when I am offline...I enjoy blogging and the net too much ;)

O is for...

What a delightful post, but such a sad topic. Being offline when it's not your choice is a frightening thing for me - I guess you could call
the internet one of my obsessions.

Glad you're back up and running. For me one of the best things is being able to find any kind of information at a moment's notice. I remember having to go to the library to use an out-of-date encyclopedia. :(

Jay said...

Oh yes! Take my internet away from me and I'm miserable! I'm glad you're back, anyway!

A really very good contribution to the O! I feel like you and yet I love it, the network offers me relaxation after hard working day. But sometimes I think I'm more of a fly, which hangs in the net ... and yet ..

greetings from an indefatigable spider

Oh yes, I do feel better when in the web! On the few occasions when I've had to do without, I haven't coped well at all.

Thank you for your visit last Wednesday, I'm still trying to catch up before P is upon us. :)

Yep... I can definitely relate. If my computer isn't booted up, I just sit there dumbfounded wondering what the heck I'm gonna do with myself until it gets booted up LOL
