Haiku works for me because I admire the ease with which each one shows a lot in few words. I do love short. While I don't claim to be a master (mistress) of haiku, I keep trying. There are several forms associated with this particular style which means there's something for everyone.
Originally consisting of 3 lines of 7/5/7 syllabic sound in the Japanese language, haiku has been occidentalized into 'few words'. Ordinarily, haiku expresses seasonal thoughts and senryu offers the opportunity to personalize the form with humor, satire or pun. Haiga is haiku accompanied by an image.
Following are two good sites with haiku how-to if you're interested in the form. There are many more as well as several journals and memes which accept submissions of haiku for publication.

longing to pry loose

I once read a definition of Haiku as 'Playful Verse'.
Master/mistress, whichever - you do them so well.
I love Haiku too. I'm so glad you though to do this.

I remember writting Haiku in school. I'm afraid I was never very good at it. You on the other hand are a Master/Mistress.
The last verse is my favorite. It paints a picture with words.

I've written very little haiku, but I'm glad you hold to the traditional 5/7/5, not the occidental variations.

These are really great. Sometimes some Haiku are too simple and don't have that unexpected thought in the last line. I especially like "the wind applauds", "itchy leaves" and "pleat of notes".
