Haiku works for me because I admire the ease with which each one shows a lot in few words. I do love short. While I don't claim to be a master (mistress) of haiku, I keep trying. There are several forms associated with this particular style which means there's something for everyone.
Originally consisting of 3 lines of 7/5/7 syllabic sound in the Japanese language, haiku has been occidentalized into 'few words'. Ordinarily, haiku expresses seasonal thoughts and senryu offers the opportunity to personalize the form with humor, satire or pun. Haiga is haiku accompanied by an image.
Following are two good sites with haiku how-to if you're interested in the form. There are many more as well as several journals and memes which accept submissions of haiku for publication.
Shadow Poetry
Haiku World
Here are four haiku, written to 3/5/3 that I recently posted on Twitter where I write to a daily prompt.
music folds
in a pleat of notes
harmony
feathers fall
ask for restored flight
broken dreams
itchy leaves
longing to pry loose
winter coats
clouds gather
storm waits in the wings
wind applauds
The image is a sketch created on the Bamboo Fun Tablet using Adobe Photoshop Elements.

I will stick with my expertise photography and appreciate your wiser words I the haiku.
Your haiku's are beautiful!
Oh, you're definitely a master at the form.
Occidentalised
Obvious opposie of
Orientalised
I once read a definition of Haiku as 'Playful Verse'.
Master/mistress, whichever - you do them so well.
I love Haiku too. I'm so glad you though to do this.
Its a wonderful form; of words but beyond them. Love this little collection and the sketch.
so gorgeous tumblehappy ~ feathers
fall...clouds gather...wind applauds...
love the first one, I do like that haiku form but isn't very good at it but you certainly write well in this form
oh, i so love that image tw...and the 3/5/3 form is heaven formed in imagined words...
These are great. The itchy leaves sure did pry open my dusty winter mind!
I remember writting Haiku in school. I'm afraid I was never very good at it. You on the other hand are a Master/Mistress.
The last verse is my favorite. It paints a picture with words.
And here I was thinking what a LOVELY brush painting that was! Very nice post.
What an informative post. I knew a bit about Haiku and have always admired yours! Thanks for sharing!
So concise and poetic - I love the imagery.
You wrote such beautiful haiku and I enjoyed reading them.
I don't think I have ever written a Haiku, but I think it looks fun and rewarding. I am going to follow you links and check it out. I like all of yours~!
Hot Dog! A Handful of Haiku and a Helpful How-to too! How handy!
Great H post.
On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, Thanks for joining us this week. Hope to see you back next week too!

I've written very little haiku, but I'm glad you hold to the traditional 5/7/5, not the occidental variations.
Thank you for explaining what a haiku is. I think yours are great, for they create a situation and they are very logic, which I like.
Have a great day!
Both the image and your haiku are beautiful!
These are really great. Sometimes some Haiku are too simple and don't have that unexpected thought in the last line. I especially like "the wind applauds", "itchy leaves" and "pleat of notes".
these are wonderful! i love reading Haiku as well. i especially love the second one.
thank you so much for the visit!
Like you I enjoy the fact that Haiku poetry says so much in so few words. Your poems are great, my favourite being 'clouds gather'. I very much like the imagery. :)
Most interesting post! I like haiku, too - brevity is a real challenge for me;-)
I've never really understood to form or the appeal of Haiku, but I kind of admire those that do - and it's certainly a great 'H' for today!
Lovely H....like all of them....esp pleat of notes....will check the sites...I use haiku in my journal/diary where I keep track of myself incognito...
I really love haiku! I will investigate the links you've given. I've tried haiku in the past with little success. None, actually.
Somehow I just knew you would pick this for your H word! How fun. Thanks for visiting my H selection.
lovely i wish i could write a hauiku whenever i try i always get stuck
Haiku is NOT easy to do well, but you posted some wonderful samples.
Wonderful haikus Sue! I especially relate to the "itchy leaves" as I'm so ready for Spring!
thanks to your H post, now I know what Haiku is? :)
Wonderful work Sue! I love haiku too, as you know and I truly enjoy reading yours. It is simple yet profound in it's beauty. Thank you for sharing the links too. Ill be stopping by to browse. Also want to get over to Lulu to check out your books there.
