Timid sun before its time
shines on eager buds
small as withered seed,
a laughing crow circles
drops his shadow
on split fence railings,
tree limbs rocked by breeze
dance with snow drops and
water seeps from southern eaves
sullen green grass
unwilling to be awakened
pouts crisply underfoot.
Spring knocks.
The digital photo shows my kitchen window. Brrr.

Loved the poem. Looking forward to Gaia opening that door to spring.
Still looking at your photo trying to make out what is what. Lovely shot and poem.
And thanks for your fun and lovely comment on my Frostpost. What else to use for F with all this deepfreeze weather we've been having ;-)

It surely does make me say Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. Great post. I hope it goes away soon and gives way to SUNSHINE! : ).
It isn't knocking here yet, but I do love this poem and the photo!
Wonderful poem, Tumblewords! Spring *is* knocking here, but hasn't crossed the threshold --yet. We still have days of cool weather ahead. However, our trees are beginning to bud, so it can't be too far away.
Thanks for your visit to my ABC and your kind words.
Your photo shows a fascinating pattern - lovely! And your poem really speaks to me. A thoroughly enjoyable post.
The poem is so tenderly crafted that its tentative spring can be felt in all our memories. You are such a clever writer!
I can't seem to make sense of what the photo is, but it's a gorgeous image! So maybe it doesn't matter. :)

Amazing 'F'
Beautiful verse! Can't wait for spring to start knocking here!
Ooh.. I love the poem, especially the sullen grass pouting crisply. It is so beautifully accurate. I know I will think of that as I walk across the winter grass these next few weeks. :)
Also thank you so much for your comment!
Come on in, Spring!
Isn't frost a great inspiration? Each appearance is a one-of-a-kind. That said, I hope yours melts away soon. LOL.
Beautiful poetry. I enjoyed feeling the coming of spring through your words.
A very Fitting F For February - but spring is on the way!
PS Thank you for the very pleasant comment!
I love the image of sullen, pouting grass - very neat! Thanks for a great post - here's hoping it warms up soon :)
