Regrets

Stalwart forests
dreams drawn in bark
hold our secrets

Sunday Scribblings offers the prompt Regrets and I offer two poems:

Loons' Cry

half past the loons’ cry, sweeping wings
pile ashes too dark to burn, too dense to fly
a raucous crow jeers in clocklike ticks

toxic black covers inbound shadows
smothers smoking sage, too late to cleanse
errata moves to an ungodly black bile beat

regrets bear great weight, unlock the moon
before the dawn and the light comes on
half past her cry after the night has bled

Faulting

probing each layer I peel my sins,
disrobing as if it were my body
remove timeworn transgressions
fold them neatly in special bins

stripped to innocent newness
awkward within my skin
I dress in faultless clothing
to acquire fresh and novel sins.

♥♥♥

The image was constructed on Bamboo Fun with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.

wonderful verses --- i'm partial to the second one, it "feels" more like me, peeling my sins away layer by layer to make way for new ones --- i really like the imagery in this one!!!

Wonderful, slight yet grave. Brava!
Well befitting a fan of Leonard Cohen and Chopin, Tumblewords.
Aloha to you! (Saw you at Dave King's)

Excellent all, and the last is tantalising.

Love the artwork and of course the lyrical, excellent poems! :)

Love 'em both, in fact all three, in fact all four because you have a different version on the picture to the heading.
In Faultless I love the thought that you could dress to acquire fresh and novel sins. Phew!

unlock the moon/before the dawn and the light comes on/half past her cry after the night has bled

sense the mourning here. lovely in its sadness.

The poems just felt like regret...a visceral response I suppose.

I enjoyed reading your verses - especially thought this was cool:

unlock the moon
before the dawn and the light comes on

Love the imagery.

Whenever I read your poetry I decide to try my hand at Haiku but it just doesn't seem to work for me.

The artwork and your verses - magic! The second piece in particular is just great.

Both lovely. Like the imagery in the first one, can relate emotionally more to the second one.

If only we could all be "stripped to innocent newness". Beautifully written scribble.

I have trouble writing poetry, therefore I consider it difficult, therefore I am in awe of your many consistenly good poems. All of both of these catch at me. Especially favorite hooks are the raucous crows/clocklike ticks; the light coming on after the night has bled; and dressing in faultless clothing to acquire fresh and novel sins. Bellissimo!

Tumblewords--
Your stalwart forests holding secrets grabbed my heart and made me hold my breath for a second.

And to think that we cut them down with impunity without any regards to the wisdom they hold. It's no wonder we're in such deep do-do...

Lovely day to you, amiga--

What a lovely combination of art and poetry. The first nature poem is so bleak, needfully so. The second was especially refreshing for me, the whole imagine of dropping away the old -- for the new!
