the train whistle
cuts through howls
flung by rabid coyotes
strung by chains of chaos
a double track cambers
fading toward untried
clicks across countryside
spiked by towns to
span old years and miles
tunnels come and go
offer flashes of light
slap shadows into dark
the song of yearning
merges with tones of oath
the train whistles

That's a great journey of words! And the journey of US is so well described.
How about sending a poem for my blog? http://www.catapulttomars.blogspot.com/
I'd like to have your writing there!
Like the way you use the train to announce the new...
Let's hope the destination was worth the journey.

Dear Sue,
I do hope we the people have changed. I hope now is the time for intelligent discourse. It has been a long 8 years.
I feel old. I shall listen for the train's whistle.
