Tiel at Totally Optional Prompts posts that she's on the road this week and won't have time to put a prompt together. So, for this week at TOP: share whatever you'd like.
I chose an older poem - one which I could write each year at this time...
Taste of Warm
I ache to swallow summer
without paring or pitting
hold it inside warm and rich
while winter
slings shards of ice
frigid wind rises in the night
moans through canyons
like the cry of a loon
vibrating mountain-tall pines
with threat
wild enough to crack my bones,
when grey eats the sun and moon
and clothing knots my easy walk
I want to swallow summer whole.

In the deepest, darkest, coldest part of winter, I too will want to be swallowing summer whole. This is just such a great, gulping image. Loved it.
I like the way this sounds (reading out loud) but I can't help thinking that there's some kind of eating contest going on here!
Right now, I feel exactly the opposite - but I wouldn't take a second helping.
delicious... i see why you want to indulge in this one annually.....
Ah, great imagery! I caught a chill just reading your poem. That's why I love the warm days in December, I feel like you can soak it up and let it help carry you through the rest of the winter! Thanks for sharing with us!
I really love the last line of the poem. I also love the photo collage you created. It almost looks like a prism.
Oh, I feel the same way!
I love all the words you used in this piece!
