Providence

3WW CIII says: I’m ThomG, and I blog over at Surface Tension. And starting this Wednesday, I’ll be here, too. Doling out three words (today: providence, agree, execute) for your Wednesday writing needs. Write something using the words. Comment here - then go out and check out everyone else’s posts. Comment there, too. This is a writers’ community. Feedback is healthy.

Please join in and play along with this energetic meme.

So, in that spirit, I offer this piece of weirdness and hope you can't guess how long I slaved over this pittance.

**

providence came knocking
thundered in without delay
the inmate wouldn't agree
to plead a second chance
or show any remorse,
so with little choice
the judge elected
to execute

I like how the shape of the poem follows the shape of his life! Well done!

After reading this, I feel badly both for the inmate and for the judge. For the inmate because his pride limits him. For the judge because the law limits him.

A good, thoughtful piece.

So matter of fact. As it no doubt happens.
Excellent.
