Defenses Down Haiku

One Single Impression posts: Thanks to Nicole Nicholson of Raven's Wing Poetry for this week's prompt, defenses down

back down, belly up
she seeks endless affection
man's best friend

lavender lays down
autumn swells with golden leaves
summer leaks away

You wrote about some of my favorite things.

Summer is definitely leaking away here, my mind is already on autumn, how about you?

Love the lavendar. Watching Summer surrender...

I sure have had a friend like the one you describe in the first haiku.

I enjoyed the grace and ease of the changing seasons as you capture it in the second one, too.

Yeah, me too, what she said (all of the shes above)...yes, it is autumn in my rhythms, love watching summer surrender--as pensive as it makes me--and your poem is amazingly deft.

Many thanks, Tumbleword! And thanks for visiting the tea house today!

Hi Sue, this is wonderful Our dog, Adi (a beagle) assumes your described postition and dispositon quite regularly.
I'm not that familiar with lavender, your poem sure fits the beginning of fall.
The first thing coming to my mind on seeing your photo was a 'Star Wars' dog fight. LOL

Who doesn't love rubbing dog bellies just as much as they love being rubbed?! Very lovely little poems.

Our neighbor next door has a beagle who loves me. She is as you wrote. And the second one is a wonderful capture. Leaking is such a perfect word. Perfect.

I love the nature one, "autumn swells
with golden leaves", an interesting personification.

the look of lavendar in early spring when the buds are so very young and beautiful and late august the buds are oh so different... very subtle the changes of nature... you caught...

I've always like haiku in my life I have never been so direct. I love the way you close one season beautifully and grace through the next. I'll have to check here alot. I find the off seasons to be somewhat afflicting....
