P for ABC Wednesday

ABC WEDNESDAY ROUND 7: P is for...

Phoeniceous.

This old word denotes a bright scarlet-red color and has been assigned as a secondary descriptive to a variety of flowers and birds.

Phoeniceous, the single word, is difficult to find and yet it glows with possibilities and potential which are reminiscent of the great Phoenix. It must be as red as that great fire. It sounds like that, doesn't it?

I'd like to learn more about the word, but it's a time consuming chore and I'm a procrastinator. Now there's a P word I understand!

Have never heard this word before. Have heard of phoenix, of course, and Phoenicians. Great choice for the P week.

A beautiful word. I wonder if there's a connection to the Phoenicians?

Glorious photos and since I'm also a procrastinator, I don't think I have time to pursue the word! lol Have a wonderful week! :D

I love the obscure words that you present us with each week! Trouble is, I don't retain the info very well...

I was thinking along the lines of Phoenicians too. Beautiful colour and as usual with blogging, I leave the post having learned and wanting to know more.

I certainly never heard of this word before. Sounds like a word that could be used in the game Balderdash. I learn something new each week on ABC Wednesday.

Well, if phoeniceous denotes a bright scarlet red, your photos are perfect, as well as beautiful.

Unfamiliar, though the narrative about it rings a bell. PRETTY

Phoeniceous is a beautiful word for a gorgeous flower! As you saw my header is a poppy, symbol of the victims who died in both world wars. So I first thought that your flower was a poppy too. I wonder if they are related. I am going to look it up in Google, for it's not in my dictionary.

Red is my favorite colour so I should know this word. Your poetry in the previous post is delightful … beautifully descriptive like a painting. So nice that you dropped by my site. To answer your question, it was cold on the Lufthansa flight to Germany. On the way back it was hot ... possibly because it felt so claustrophobic.

It's always fun to learn new words; the trick is to remember them! I'm a procrastinator too; one of the reasons is that I get so caught up in reading posts like yours, that the time just goes POOF!

Sounds like a useful word, I might be able to pronounce but don't think I'd remember how to spell it.

the word sounds so rich!

I pride myself on having a rather rich vocabulary...but phoeniceous...never heard of it!!! I'll join the others though, who resonate with the word, procrastinator!!!

Gorgeous color in the photos!!! Love the macro compositon!

I'm a procrastinator too! I'm a very very bad one .. or is that 'a good one'? See? Even now, I'm putting off moving onto the next thing. LOL!

Phoenicieous .. quite delicious!
