I didn't want to be here
where the shade is deep
and the sun is rare
an unplanned spree
brought me to this site
where I didn't want to be
breezes fail in freshness
nights fill with metal noise
silence is my dream of bliss
nearby hills hold my kin
cedars, pine and royal firs
but here I am in town
where her backyard
dwindles down and
where my taproot sank
Totally Optional Prompt: So, that's your prompt this week: be someone or something else. Write a poem in the voice of whomever or whatever you'd like. Here's your chance to shed your own skin and be someone or something else.

I like the visual too.
pictures stare, curves are drawn
I really like this! Wonderful tale and a good lesson in grow where you are planted. The art is lovely too.
You never know where the wind will take you! I like the longing in here and the acceptance.
Your poetry just keeps getting better and better!
Also, thanks for visiting my craft blog! I agree that bookstores are the best!
Lovely poem. The lines are simply done but the isolation and longing are so evocative. I especially liked the last line - the 'taproot' seems synonymous with the heart - the heart of the tree - and the word 'sank' seems to take on a double meaning here. At least to me anyway.
You did a great job with this Sue, wonderful! I was drawn into each line as I read.
