They Call the Wind
Moans in the dark of night
beg my soul to join in flight
sing of journeys across the sky
of brushing the Bitterroot high
to ruffle soaring stalwart trees
wrinkling water of lakes and seas
dusting the desolate prairie
and moving the great Mojave
I am the wind, it whistles
and is gone...

beautiful watercolour and the words complement it very well
Very descriptive and evocative. Good use of the prompt.

Sue,
Beautiful; both poem and painting!
Like with all of nature, the wind can calm or terrorize. I like this reverie better. ;)
OH wow, that last line is radical!
"Wrinkling water" brings up such great images. Nicely done! :)
I was born and grew up on the Mojave Desert, so I know the wind you speak of! Well done!
What beautiful pictures have been created ..both in the poem and the watercolor !
Specially loved
"wrinkling" water of lakes and seas
dusting the desolate prairie
and "moving the great Mojave"
What a sense of visual motion !!
Thanks for your visit.
"dusting the desolate prairie"
that line really speaks to me
the whole poem has such great imagery ... wonderful
reminds me of Robert Frost poems, great rhythm here
Beautiful piece - I can close my eyes and feel it...
Such an emotive piece. Where does the wind go to?
Fabulous and the ending, so bittersweet....this moves so well, is so imagerich. And yes, the watercolour is beautiful.
I don't think I've read anything that rhymes by you before. I like it...and the watercolour.
Yeah, the wind! that's wonderful..
I could feel that wind brushing the palms of my hands. This was like a call to the very spirits themselves. WOW!
Beautiful poems! I especially like the one about the wind, but they are all good.
Beautifully done. Almost as powerful as the wind it describes.
very nice, it flowed much like the wind.
visual motion !!-the wind-not an easy act to capture-it's likeable!
