Heads or Tails prompt: Tip or anything that rhymes with Tip
presents, cards and song
charred candles, ice cream and cake
cheery five-year-old
I have a tip.
The four-year-old turned into a five-year-old on April 10 and celebrated in a timely fashion with minimal family.
On April 13, his celebration included his friends and their parents as well as greater numbers of family.
A 'same-age' buddy asked the birthday boy how old he was and the answer was 'Six.' His friend and I were amazed.
By the time I figured that he was aging a year for each party, I surmised that weary parents could get a jump on celebrations - have two while the mess is in plain sight and skip the following year. That probably won't work.

hey the haiku was fun..and wishing the 5 year old a happy birthday!
You know how I love haiku and I thoroughly enjoyed your delightful ‘take’ on this week’s prompt. I’m playing for the 2nd time at Small Reflections and hope you’ll find time to visit.
Hugs and blessings,
Very nice idea for the theme :) I enjoyed your entry! Happy HOT day!
Birthdays are WAY too important to meld two into one - shame on you for even thinking that:) Hope the five year old had a blast!
I hope the birthday boy had fun!
Great post.
Hmm...if that's how it works, I guess I won't have any parties anymore, so I can stay...23, yeah, that's it, 23. :)
Now that's a good idea ;)
Very funny. I have an odd mental quirk. About four months before my birthday I start thinking of myself as the new age but then AFTER my birthday, for some reason, I revert back. It's not conscious. Our minds (well my mind is) are odd.
hhmm and April is pretty close to Christmas so maybe those could be melded just like they are for every December child. :P
This was fun especially the ageing child and the parents hoping to cut down on parties.
So I wonder if us adults can start doing the opposite to this......
and REDUCE our age on our birthday by two years ?? ;-)

Have a great day!
Kids can say the cutest things. I love being around my grands ... they keep me young. Thanks for sharing..
I hope I don't age a whole year if I have two parties. I'd rather have it go the other way and I'd lose a year...yeah, that sounds nice. LOL!
That is funny.
I just read it to my children and they laughed.
Hope the five year old enjoys his sixth year of life.
Thanks for stopping by Penny Lane!
sue,
I love 5 year old's logic!

Anyway, wanted to let you know how this post made me smile.
Unfortunately, it probably won't work, but it was a great tip! The adults would go for it! I enjoyed your poem.
adorable, kids say the cutest things.
adorable, kids say the cutest things.
And now I am saying to myself, "Duh, self!". Of course a kid would think like that and yet I never considered how confusing it must be. Great story!
Kids are pretty neat in their interpretations of events. Happy B-Day to him.
Great Haiku leading to a great story~Out of the Mouths of Babes-too bad your suggestion probably won't work-lol!
Thanks so much for visiting mine
Have a great day!
Very clever, I am not very familiar with Haiku but that seemed good to me. Thanks for popping by my place and leaving a comment
