A Pop of Hot
I flip the heat to high
strip off the fleece hoodie
fling down knitted gloves
remove thermal suits
wool socks and down booties
to the shower I trot
run the water hard and hot
towel dry and skip around
til the sweating stretches
from the inside out
redressed in fresh layers
reset the thermostat on freeze
in that day filled with dread
I put cheer on the back burner
while holding summer in my head
A processed sketch

Susan, I imagine it is quite cold where you are. You have conveyed
that quite well.

Great imagery, but I wouldn't want to be there...

That ending is splendid... renewing the idea of summer to keep one warm, lodging it in the skull.
Boy oh boy do I need to hold summer in my head. I have not felt my feet in three months or more! Great poem.
I do like the whole idea. A little cheer burbling away on the back like cinnamon and nutmeg.
great imagery...

This was beautiful.
Now there is one hot cure for the cold winter blues! I like what you did with the prompt.
Wonderful images. I can certain relate in this ridiculously frigid winter. :)
It's wonderful when you have hot water, to bring the hot house flower back to life! I was right there with you, still holding summer. Thanks for the great write.
Sounds like a great cure for the wintertime blues!
Love it. A little humor and dash of seriousness perfectly blended.
and who is now getting sick of winter.
Wonderfully descriptive, really tired of the cold,
Elizabeth
Can tell you live where it's been cold -all those layers and tricks to stay warm, even inside the house!
Ahhhh I love this! This so describes me every day right now!
Vividly put, especially the last line.
This is what I would call endearing. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Temps back on freeze - I emphatize.
