Singing Toward Jupiter
winging off to Ganymede
she sings of her Utopia
escape, oh, sweet escape
moon of milk and honeybee
where oceans' ebb and flow
smoothes the homeland buzz
she claims an unspoiled crater
hoists a purple and green flag
to catch Jupiter's free-handed glow
escape, oh, sweet escape
singing lullabies of Utopia
she flew away to Ganymede

you make utopia sound graspable. this is a beautiful poem. have a great night.
almost forgot. great fractal.
I agree with Paul. I too thought this was a lullaby in itself. Oh, how we dream of utopias!

I love how the words in this stanza flow. Very soothing.
Thank you for sharing!
I like the wishful fantasy of paradise on less than hospitable Jupiter. It leaves a layer of unstated desperation under the sweetness.

As always, I love the rhythm of your words. I want to go visit readwritepoem.
There's a great music to the lines... I was tempted to sing along :).
Yes, it's a consensus it seems, a lovely tune, a lullaby, something to sing us into sleep. Thank you.
from Therese B. at RWP -- Reminds me of the best Mother Goose or Ride a Purple Pelican nursery rhymes -- a lot of music (especially long O sounds), a delightful fantasy, and a safe return trip "home" at the end. If my daughter were still young, I'd read her this poem!

lovely! the sound of the language is quite strong.
Delightful imagery in this brief but intense journey into deep space. As Francis Scudellari observes, this should be sung.
wonderful...thanks for sharing
moon of milk and honeybee's a nifty phrase, but I love the idea of claiming the crater with a purple/green flag
I have to agree with singing this, too. The music is propelling, the meter might change in melody -- would be nice to hear it spoken, at least!!
(It's so nice to read you again. Thanks for participating!)
