Trudy for Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings offers the simple prompt - toys

Trudy, in her original clothing but with slightly crazed faces, has been in my possession for years. At this particular moment, I cannot say where she is.

A Google search through old newspaper archives brought up this ad from the Oklahoma Tire and Supply in The Kiowa News 1947.

Other Trudy's exist or existed although I've never heard of them but I cannot remember the last time I might have brought her up in normal conversation and far be it from me to play in abnormal conversation.

Have you ever seen or heard of this charming toy?

Never heard of her! I wrote about dolls, too.

I didn't play with dolls much, particularly baby dolls. I remember getting one that cried and wet, and found it just horrifying!

I had a Trudy doll but she wasn't one of those. I gave her that name just because I liked it. I have seen dolls with changeable faces though.

So sweet! For some reason, maybe her changing faces, that precursor of emotional expression, she reminds me of my Chatty Cathy... the source of some very abnormal conversation.

Never heard of her, but I love the idea of turning the knob on her head to change her face! I'd like one of those on my head!

I never heard of her. But she is very sweet.
I had a Thumbalina doll. She had a winder in her back that when wound she would move like a sleeping baby. Or maybe a waking baby.
Doll memories are always good.

Never heard of the name but a friend had a baby doll that worked like that. She had three expressions - crying, smiling, and sleeping. I coveted he big time :)

I've never heard of Trudy, but I'm sure she was a hit with all the little girls, once upon a time.
