Enough for Big Tent Poetry

Big Tent Poetry offers a simple prompt this week: write to enough, be it not enough, more than enough, just enough.

Something set me off. Don't remember what it was but as soon as I saw enough, this jumped out, wrote itself and went straight back into hiding. So there. :)

Enough.

it's not what it is
it's not all good
it's broken things blowing

and the tap tap tapping
of a thousand nightjars
pecking life to death

a house of cards
the easiest target
of a wraparound wind

rent by greed and fear
it's like being pecked to death
by a thousand rabid birds

Sometimes these poems that come quick are especially powerful. And, oh, yes that last line...a killer.

a really good poem, Sue

Sue, this one does have the power of those that just fly fiercely in. It catches the agony of some moments magnificently. I especially like the house of cards as target rent fragile tent imagery - though it chills me and rings familiar.

Some fine images towards a picture of something concealed slipping momentarily out of cover.

The powerful denials at the beginning lead into rich concrete lines that fully bear out the opening.

Wonderful imagination...

What vivid and powerful imagery! It is funny how some poems just write themselves, like we channel them, and others come out agonizingly slowly, line by line.

Enjoyed 3rd stanza in particular.

Wow,Sue, Love it. Isn't it fun when something jumps out and writes itself - that is my favorite - it makes you feel so 'open' or something. Hope all is well, K

"thousand nightjars" is stunning. Startling. Just right paired with the energy.

This is incredible, chilling. Effective use of the sense of hearing adds a lot to it.

what is true so often takes little time to reveal itself... amazing how you seized on enough, nicely done.

Loved the poem. It distilled down to the essence, I think.

Can't say that I understand it fully, but I get it until the sixth line. Still, I am open to keep trying to understand.
