Totally Optional Prompts: requests poems using shoes as a metaphor for death...
Rule of Red
magical red
spun along the path
Rubik's cube facets
sparkled up
a brown shoe world
flat as waning seas
before the dying sun
casual abandon
suspended by laces
birled at transformer lines
clustered crows
looked askance
into the nearing murk
and an empty pair of shoes

Your Rubik's cube reference makes me feel old. Otherwise I love your poem. Have a great day.
Love the "brown shoe world
flat as waning seas" image! And that "empty pair of shoes" at the end says so much!
Wicked cool fractal, too, picking up the Rubik's cube colors!
that was magical tw... especially so the red reference and brown shoes...
Really clever and I love "magical red, spun along the path" - beautiful.
Great contrasts of colour and mood.
Shoes can pull us down and uplift too. I find those sentiments here!
your yellow shirt contrasts with the pillar
Its almost like nature playing games here. Lovely
I like the last four lines particularly, they make a very strong image...
Reading this a few times, I kept getting the image of a Mad Max kind of world.... a world that has been bleached of color from hundreds of years of misuse... Very interesting take on the prompt.
It makes me think - red shoes or brown shoes - what do I want to walk through life wearing?
This is excellent Sue; you've done this theme justice. Wonderful artwork too.
Hugs, G
