Poefusion Friday 5

Michelle at Poefusion Friday 5 offers these words for prompt:
doctor * roll of film * stairwell * telephone * secret
I found these words more conducive to a short story than poetry! What do you find?

<>
the escape stairwell echoed
clatter made by a roll of film
unwinding down the steps

a scrubs clad doctor slipped
through the morgue's swinging door
into a nearby telephone stand

dialed a familiar number
whispered, 'We're safe ~
our secret has seen the light.'

Lurching into Summer

Totally Optional Prompt: Summer. Be sure to check this site - superb prompts and lots of extraordinarily fine work.

crystals of pneumonia
curdle the milk of amnesia

churn the nights
into guess-again clumps

breath hums through hose
dumps puzzle parts by the score

fraudulent flashbacks of Puerto Rico
a giveaway pink slipper chair

shoes in the middle row
mirror a painter’s last stroke

speech ran off on her legs
during that double dark of disorder

when disarray reigned and
nightmares transformed truth

into fiction even she
wouldn’t write, can't believe

That Path of Least Resistance

Bone, the moderator of Three Word Wednesday says: each week, I post some words. People write things using the words. Then they comment here. Feel free to join in this energetic meme!

like a wrap-around porch
a frown follows her forehead

rumors released as fact
shake her to the core

~ spontaneous belief ~
flings wisdom to the wind

This is one of my earliest Bamboo Fun pieces.

Lizard and Lavender

Totally Optional Prompts offers 'as a flower'...

her lavender stalk bends
under a late spring breeze

a blue-tail lizard, sans tail,
darts over her rootbound feet

flashes a shortened frame
under freshly fallen leaves

a wisp of blue
can restore tail thin as a reed

~~without replacements
she cultivates a new envy

Seeking

Poefusion Friday 5 offers these words for prompt: cart, dirt, little boy, torn page, market...

left knee in the cart
right foot dragging dirt
the little boy squints
at the torn page from
a resurrected photo album
he’ll know when he sees her
at the local farmers’ market,
she looks a lot like his dad did

Yogurt in the Dingle

Friday 5 at Poefusion This week's words are ochre, straw, gravel, crash, yogurt

ochre dyed straw
jam-packed the dingle’s
dry creekbed gravel

first crash of thunder ~
that potato truck from hell ~
drove the downpour

spun the bitter seeds
into lustrous neap tides
of mabe peach yogurt
